Guardian Home Program
Guardian homes are a great opportunity for the right family and greatly helps a breeder. Being a Guardian home can be an excellent way to give back and have a top quality dog/puppy for a family pet with financial incentives. The best part of guardianship is it allows our breeding dogs to have forever home with the guardian and eliminates the heartbreak to find homes for our breeding dogs when they retire.
We believe every dog deserves a loving forever home. Our guardian homes help us continue to breed these amazing dogs, while we retain breeding ownership rights. The guardian provides a secure forever home and lifetime of love our dogs deserve. Guardians need to make sure they have the time to train, socialize and give companionship to a young puppy. Canine Good citizenship is recommended for puppies to complete, which is a series of three obedience classes to attain this.
Arizona Labradoodles has already done assessment of temperament and genetic testing on these puppies before considering their placement in a guardian home.
All routine and emergency veterinary expenses incurred would be the responsibility of the guardian home. Arizona Labradoodles will pay for all reproductive expenses and OFA/PENN health testing. Each dog is health tested and evaluated to make sure they are ready to become Mothers and Fathers before they are bred.
Females will have one to three litters depending if the dog has had no issues with being a mother with her first litter. Our females typically retire between 2-4 years old. Females are brought here to breed when they are in heat and then brought back to us one week prior to their due date. They will stay here to have their puppies and through weaning which is approximately 4 weeks. The dog will return to you by the time the puppies are about 3-4 weeks old. Once the female has the agreed upon litters, typically no more than 3, then the guardianship contract will end and the female is then retired to her forever family.
Male dogs/puppies can also be placed in a guardian home. Males are used when needed to breed with females at different times. Males can either be brought here 1-2 times during the females cycle and/or on a rare occasion with us for a few days while the female is in heat. Males can be a part of our breeding program for 3-8 years depending on their health and our program goals.
To help offset the expenses of maintaining a pet, we give a per litter bonus. The bonus is contingent upon following our guidelines, keeping in communication with us along with puppy training, proper grooming etc. We don't mind if you self groom or go to a groomer as long as the dog is kept clean and mat free.
